Hi there, how are you? I’m great – thanks! At the moment I’m 37,000 ft from the ground, on my way back to Malta, realizing that I never told you where I was off to in the first place! So, I figured it would be a nice idea to send you some airmail, and catch up! As you can see, London it was! And it was….A-ma-zing.
I learned that not only Malta has colourful houses and doors! Portobello road in particular, was peppered with these colourful gems. Strolling around the vintage market was an experience on its own, finding the most unique pieces. We obviously had only so much space in our suitcases, so I had to leave the cool baroque chaise longue and the antique mirror, but this pocket size phone cover came home with me! I mean, came out with me! See me showing it off here, after dinner, before dances with friends. We ended up at Alberts and it was so. much. fun. Even the bathroom it was a party! So artistic!
Besides sushi on my phone cover, I have also found it on my plate. Multiple times, this weekend, actually. One of them was at Umu, a super restaurant with the best sushi I ever had. Very few Japanese restaurants have Michelin stars, and these guys have TWO! After the meal, we had the honor of interviewing the star chef who earned the restaurant its stars, that had just returned from his trip to Tokyo. The questionnaire will soon be on the blog!
Sushi and shopping weren’t the only main things on this trip. One of them was visiting the Kensington white gardens, dedicated to princess Diana, to mark the 20th anniversary of her death and to honour her life. A beautiful, elegant garden, just like the princes herself. After that we entered the Kensington Palace, where she lived for 15 years. We strolled around and enjoyed her fashion story. The dress exhibition was so special and quite emotional, I have to say. At some point you could see what she wore in Zimbabwe, with the Red Cross – or how she was dressed at the Childrens hotel in Brazil, the bedouin picnic in Abu Dhabi, the Cannes filmfestival, the ‘John Travolta dress’ when dancing in the White house, and many more events. It wasn’t only the outfits that inspired me, it was her, Lady Di, as a person. A true style icon, a princess, a mother, a humanitarian.
Please allow me now to fast forward you to Wembley, where in some peoples mind an inhumane event kicked off. My puppy, Anthony Joshua, was fighting Klitschko for the world heavy weight championship, we had floor seats – and he won! Naturally. It was an amazing event, and one that I will never forget. After sweet dreams about this sexy boxer, it was time for Sexy Fish – the restaurant. Yep, I know! I’m never not eating. Sigh. Anyway, I highly recommend this restaurant. Yummy food and good atmosphere.
Another new favourite of mine is Bluebird, which has recently had a phenomenal facelift. The Bluebird shop was amazing. It’s a cool a concept store, showcasing world renowned designers, fresh talent, art and beauty. Then, on top of the shop – A PITSTOP! Just because it rhymes. At the Bluebird cafe I enjoyed 1/2 dozen of oysters and some delicious drinks. Fun fun fun!
I think that sums up the whole trip. Fun, fun, fun. I fell in love with the city and can’t wait to go back already. London you will be missed!
